DESIGN HOTEL LEVI

Sustainability

Levi Hotel Spa Resort is situated in Lapland around extremely fragile and unique nature. It is essential for our business that we are surrounded by unspoiled nature and fresh clean air.

How to minimize the environmental footprint

“We want to run our business in the way  we are also able to protect nature,  do our most to minimize our environmental impact and to promote sustainability”, said Sanna Leinonen, CEO of Levin Matkailukeskus Ltd.
“The international Green Key-programme has given us concrete tool kit  for increasing environmental responsibility in long run. We want to increase the level of environmental awareness among our employees and customers. In future we will take further steps to intensify energy and water consumption, waste sorting and recycling and we will also expand selection of both local and organic food”, certification includes both hotels with public areas, Restaurant Ahku and Water World.

“Especially the measures for reducing water consumption has been challenging and the work has needed lots of different technical steps. Both our hotels have 264 rooms, restaurants  and meeting  facilities as well as a spa. To achieve a approved level of water consumption we have checked the water flow of all taps and showers – that has taken some working hours! But now we are happy to present the results. We have also a totally new waste sorting point in the middle of our hotel yard. Our customers are more than welcome to use it as well as our co-operation companies at our premises”,  said Environmental and Maintenance Manager Juho Kalliainen.

There are over 60 obligatory criterions to be full filled for to achieve  international Green Key Certificate. The certificate is granted  by a Green Key jury after application process and audit report. The Green Key award is valid 12 months and must be renewed every year.
